Marble: A metamorphic recrystallized limestone composed predominantly of crystalline grains of calcite or dolomite, having interlocking or mosaic texture. Historically marble is associated with being the preferred medium of sculptors and old world architecture. Its veining shows uthenticity, and its glassy content allows for polishing.
A sub-genre of marble, micro crystalline form of calcium carbonate, usually formed from cold waters. Its uniqueness is usually due to its exotic patterns and translucence.
